SAT NAV Want to beat congestion charging on the
roads? Sat-nav will save drivers money by directing
them away from toll zones. Software suppliers have told
Auto Express they can easily run rings around priced streets,
including mayor Ken Livingstone's proposals for central
London, should they come into force.
Jorgé Lang of Clarion said: "When we get zone
boundaries data we can build it into systems and steer drivers
away from the toll roads."
A spokesman for Visteon, which makes sat-nav equipment
for Ford, said: "It could be an in-car option by the
time Livingstone's plan is in force next February."
