Before you even begin to think that the W950i is the replacement handset for the W900i, which we agree would seem obvious - it isn't !
Both phones share many features but they are aimed at two different market sectors - Sony Ericsson have dispensed with a camera of any kind on the W950i even though it's a 3G phone. Why ? Well that's the immediate question you would ask - but this is a very different beast than any other Walkman phone yet & we do mean 'very different' !
Gone is the 'love it or loathe it swivel design' and enter a very clean, very thin, flush key & touch screen alternative - Nice !
Aimed directly for it's music potential the W950i will without doubt steal sales from potential iPod buyers. It has a massive 4Gb of internal memory which is about sufficient for 4000 songs, 3G internet speeds via the Opera 8 web browser and an incredible display - As we say this could well be the first 'all-in-one' device that customers have crazed for.
Sony Ericsson have really thought this phone through and with the added customer experience of a touch screen display with handwriting recognition, we're pretty sure that most people will forget all about cameras !
