Airmar GH2183 solid compass active GPS Combo The Airmar GH2183 combines GPS positioning and highly accurate heading information in one compact antenna—a first in the leisure marine industry. The GH2183 eliminates the need to install a GPS antenna above deck and a heading sensor below deck. Only one installation above the deck is required, saving the user both purchase and installation costs. The waterproof housing protects the internal components—all of which are solid-state (no moving parts). This means the GH2183 can withstand any condition that exists in the marine environment.

The GH2183 connects easily to NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000® devices. Both data formats are output simultaneously, so users can connect the single sensor into both the NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000® networks. The GH2183 gives you three meter EGNOS / WAAS GPS accuracy along with 2° heading accuracy. When comparing compass heading precision, the GH2183 is best in class. It is factory tested over a complete range of headings and pitch and roll angles. The 3-D accelerometer and rate gyro are temperature compensated across the entire temperature range, eliminating the need for user calibration. Combined algorithms from the three-axis compass, three-axis accelerometer and three-axis rate gyro provide accurate and stable heading information—even if the vessel is pitching and rolling up to 45°in rough seas. This level of accuracy along with the fast 10 Hz update rate is perfect for outputting vessel heading and GPS data to help operate autopilots, chartplotters, PC’s, and radar systems
