Satellite Pro m10 Review
The Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 series features
the latest Intel Pentium mobile 1.3GHz processor
along with the Centrino chipset giving extended
battery life and wireless technology as
standard. It comes with 256MB of RAM as
standard along with a large 40GB hard drive.
It features a large 14" TFT display
combined with nVidia graphics for top video
performance. WiFi wireless LAN is standard
as is standard 10/100 LAN connectivity and
56k modem. XP Pro operating system is supplied
as standard.
Toshiba's latest Centrino notebook delivers
good performance and excellent battery life,
although the display is not as sharp as
the competition's.
The good: Great-looking design; five-hour
battery life; built-in wireless networking.
The bad: A little thick and heavy; disappointing
screen.

So many Centrino notebooks, so little money.
Fret no more--Toshiba's Satellite Pro M10-S405
series does an excellent job of building
a competent Centrino system for less than
£2,000. While the Satellite Pro M10-S405
series doesn't set any performance records,
its 1.4GHz Pentium M processor, 40GB high-speed
hard drive, and 512MB of memory still make
it faster than more expensive notebooks.
With a sleek design that fits equally well
on an airplane tray table or a kitchen counter,
this notebook's only Achilles' heel is its
dull and fuzzy display. If you want something
lighter and faster, go with either the Acer
TravelMate 803LCi or the IBM ThinkPad T40--but
be prepared to pay more.
USERS NOTES
Just picked up a Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405
the other day. All in all it's better than
your average notebook. Took me two hours
to get it connected to my WiFi router, but
only because nowhere in the instructions
did I see that there is a physical on/off
switch on the case for the WiFi card! They
should make that more obvious. As others
pointed out, the screen isn't as sharp as
it could be. Also, it comes covered with
stickers, with one large one that is right
over the processor. I think when they test
the computer, the heat affects the sticker.
I couldn't get that one off without leaving
sticky residue on the plastic. Eventually
got it all off. For most things it is very
fast. Internet is blazing fast, faster than
other computers I've used on the same DSL
connection. For some reason it is slow with
photos though. I'm focussing on the negatives
here, but it really is good computer.
