Information on WEEE Regulations

Regulation 31

MNC Group are unable to offer a ‘take-back’ service where your old product is collected and recycled when you purchase a new product from us.
The reason for this is that in most cases it is cost prohibitive for customers to pay to have their products send to us and customers have advised that they do not wish to use such a service it was offered by MNC Group Ltd.

Regulation 33

For customers wishing to return a product on receipt of the new product, we advise the following;

Under Article 2 of the WEEE Directive there is a need to minimize the disposal of WEEE.

Customers are directed to contact their local Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) who will normally take back such physical products free of charge.
For your local AATF we advise you follow the following link:

http://www.econo-weee.com/documents/Public_Register_AATF.pdf

As changes can happen on a weekly basis, then if you do not have a local AATF near you, we advise calling your local Producer Compliance Scheme (PCS) whose number and address details should be available from your local authority.

Finally, if you are still not satisfied with either the AATF of the PCS or the address we have supplied, we advise you contact your nearest local authority recycling center or Designated Collection Facility operated on behalf of your local authority who can advise on new addresses and facilities on a weekly basis.

Please also see the recycle more website at the following address.

http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/

For customers wishing to return a WEEE item please note that it is the customer is responsible for any transport costs incurred in returning their WEEE item to the addresses we supply.

End users should refrain from using landfill sites in the first instance and help to minimize landfill sites by attempting to contact a recycling centre

End users have an important role in contribution to the reuse and recycling and other forms of recovery of WEE under the WEEE regulations.

The potential effects of the environment and human ill health as a result of the presence of hazardous substances in EEE makes it a necessity to attempt to recycle as much waste WEEE as possible.

Customer and end-users are reminded the meaning of the ‘crossed-out’ symbol of the wheelie bin at the following information:

WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

Much of the UK 's WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.

Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

MNC Group Ltd is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers information on free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us.
For example, if a customer bought a new item from us we would provide information as to where they may freely dispose of their old items and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely.
Customers must return their WEEE item to the address supplied above (Note: we do not collect) within 28 days of purchasing their new item.
Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol shown below:
Goods are marked with this symbol to show that they were produced after 13th August 2005, and should be disposed of separately from normal household waste so that they can be recycled.
